Michigan No. 9 in USA Today Coaches Poll

Early August calls for preseason college football rankings, and Thursday morning featured the release of our first poll: the Amway/USA Today Coaches Poll.

Jim Harbaugh’s third Michigan Football team landed at the No. 9 spot. Three additional Big Ten teams cracked the top ten in this poll in particular: Ohio St @ No. 2, PSU @ No. 6, and then Wisconsin snuck in @ No. 10.

Preseason rankings essentially mean nothing, strictly based off of what coaches, and other people believe teams are capable of. Built from hype, and returning talent.

The No. 9 ranking for this Michigan team is very generous, in my opinion, for a team returning only five starters on both sides of the ball. I believe that it does show how other coaches in CFB feel about Jim Harbaugh, they have tremendous respect for him as a football coach, and believe that he will succeed despite the talent he lost to the draft.

The ranking is nice, but it’s all about how you finish rather than how you begin.
